Alize, Lam Yeuk Hei is a product designer based in Hong Kong.

She was trained in fashion design, after graduation, she worked in the fashion industry. 

During her time in the factories in mainland China, she observed that the industry creates abundant amount of waste every day, including water pollution and solid waste from production, often they create way more than they can sell to the market, in the end, tons after tons of dead stock will be sent directly to landfills.

We can no longer hide from the environmental problems caused by pollution and over-consumption. 

This leads Alize to rethink the way we consume, do we think before we buy? Is buying the only option? Or could we make it ourselves?

Since then her focus has shifted to product design, mainly utilising forgotten materials to tackle social problems. 

For example, In Hong Kong, a large number of wine boxes are discarded every day, which the wood is often in good condition to be upcycled. In collaboration with local sheltered workshops, these wood are collected and processed.

In the digital age, when the ingenious kinetic toy and instruments are replaced by cheap electronics, quality materials are substituted with plastic and broken objects are easier to send to landfills instead of repairing. Through designing a collection of self assemble kits, Alize focuses on educating and reintroducing the public to the value of simple mechanical design. She hopes everyone would be able to experience the making of a product from scratch. 

We often buy without second thought, then throw away without thinking. 

Through her design, Alize wishes to provide an alternative.

Beyond consuming, more about learning how objects are made, thus building a relationship in the process.

林若曦 (Alize )是一名產品設計師。於Nottingham Trent University 修讀時裝設計，畢業後成為時裝設計師。於內地工廠工作期間，Alize 觀察到行業於生產過程製造很多浪費，包括廢水和廢料；

而工廠的產量通常遠多於銷售量，最後，數以噸計的全新產品往往直接送到堆填區。

我們不能再逃避由污染和過度消費而帶來的環境問題。

這令Alize反思自己日常的購物習慣，購物前是否有認真思考？購買是唯一選擇嗎？自己能不能夠製作到？

目前Alize 集中在產品設計，以設計回應社會議題，主要使用各種回收物料生產，如酒箱木。香港每日有大量酒箱被掉棄，這些木材質量仍然上佳，可以生產其他產品。在本地庇護工場的協助下，這些酒箱得以收集和加工。
Alize的設計一直以教育和啟發大眾為目標。在數碼風行的年代，以住不用電池便能運作的各種動力玩具和樂器現在已經買少見少，當中包含的經典設計、傳統智慧非常有價值，被忽略了實在非常可惜。
Alize 希望透過拆解和學習，重新將這些有趣的簡單機械玩具/樂器呈現給大家。透過設計一系列的DIY Kits，大家可以親身體驗由零開始製作一件產品。我們和產品的關系，不單止是一買一賣，更重要的是過程和體驗。

我們習慣了盲目消費和掉棄，Alize希望可以透過設計，供給大家多一個選擇。
